Sh… don’t tell Doug!

This is what happens when twelve year old girls spend a lot of time with little boys with great hair! I’m pretty sure that there will be a manicure session while I’m at the doctor tomorrow!

Now, I need help. I want this baby out now! I know they’ll induce me whenever, but I like to think my one concession to my babies is that I let them come when they want. However, I’m not above trying non-chemical inducements! I’ve tried walking around Sea World again, and of course, thinking lots of happy thoughts, but nothing is working. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Pride Goeth Before Sea World

Yesterday, I thought I had a great idea. I figured now that we have the girl here we could go and have a fun morning at Sea World. I had driven down there with the boys once before, but it had started raining so we never went inside. I thought since I had driven there once, I would be able to find it again no problem.

Ha! Ha! Ha!

I knew the park was only 18 miles from my house. So, after about 40 minutes driving and a roadside stand for Fredericksburg peaches I deduced that we were officially lost! At this point, the girl suggests that we stop and ask for directions. I said I would be too embarassed. Then the girl says that she’ll save me my embarassment and ask for directions for me. I said no way because then I would be embarassed by proxy. It wasn’t like we made one wrong turn, I went in the opposite direction for 40 minutes!

So, I thought I could call my sister and she could find me some internet directions, but she wasn’t at home. Then my mom wasn’t near the computer, and Doug wasn’t picking up his phone (don’t even get me started on this; I keep telling him that he has to keep his phone with him always just in case the baby comes, but he leaves it!).

A few miles back we saw a sign for San Marcos which is where the outlet mall is, so I figured we might as well do something. Little did I know that it was the 35mi. scenic route to San Marcos! Oh well, the scenic route was lovely. This is texas Hill Country! The outlets were fun, but it was huge. We only went to a few stores. No matter how much help you have, an outlet mall is not for toddlers!

After we got home, we loaded Doug into the car, and once more headed out to Sea World… in rush hour traffic! We made it there in time for two roller coaster rides and one beluga/dolphin show! I also got a great idea to get rid of th veins in my legs… just cover them with really ugly tattoos (I would have taken a picture, but the lady could have totally beat me up!)!

Anyway, I’m now off to Harry Potter. It is my sinister plan to go into labor half-way through! Think happy thoughts for me!

A little town called Gruene

June 17, 2007 at 4:08 am (Road Trips)

Well, yesterday we closed on our house. We are now officially real estate moguls! Hopefully we won’t be dual property owners for too much longer. I’m not cut out for life in the fast lane like Aubrey is!

Today was supposed to be our second little road trip to explore Texas (we checked out the ikea outside of Austin last week). Before we left Utah, Noelle told me about a town called Gruene and how it was one of her favorite places to visit when she lived in Texas. Normally  I would trust Noelle on things like this, but I have to say it wasn’t quite what we expected. The biggest problem was that we promised Samuel a cookie, and there was not a cookie for sale anywhere in town. What kind of quaint old timey town doesn’t sell cookies?! Needless to say, there were a couple of meltdowns during our stay in Gruene. Also, there was a natural store and I thought it would be a great place to get my sister’s birthday gift. However, all this store sold was rocks and arrowheads. not exactly Christina’s style! I think it might be more my style once fall arrives and everythig is a little more crisp, and hopefully, a little less muggy. Also, The GristMill was a very yummy restaurant (also Noelle’s reccomendation). I would advise going midweek to avoid the Saturday lunch rush!

I was on the lookout for something kind of like Chester, NS, but Gruene was a little too touristy. Next week, I think we might check out Fredericksburg.

One exciting note for today: we have officially unpacked our last box! We did it in less than two weeks, which is way better than the last house.
